Mr. Smith did not respond to the coalition's letter and he did not show for the December 17th meeting regarding the coalition's bingo issue, although he had ample notice. Evidently Mr. Smith doesn't care about police and veterans issues. The coalition will be reporting on Mr. Smith's voting record on all police/veterans issues and his money trail, since his election to the Georgia House of Representatives. Three of his colleagues on the Columbus Delegation did not think that police officers and veterans were unimportant, because they showed up at the meeting. We should not forget who our friends are at election time.

Elected officials are important to our members and the Georgia law enforcement community. Because we are public officers, we are dependant upon our elected officials at all levels of Georgia government for support. As our members cannot personally meet with each individual candidate, our legislative-governmental affairs committee strives to learn the position of each candidate on the issues of interest to our members, the Georgia law enforcement and military communities and the voters at large and make recommendations as to which candidate we believe will best represent and support our interests.
