HB-674 did not make it to the Senate Floor for a
vote, because Lt Governor Cagle and Senate Rules Committee Chairman
Don Balfour did not honor our request to allow the senate to vote. Mr. Cagle
did not respond to our telephone calls and e-mails to him. The bill was
passed in the 2009 session of the Georgia House of Representatives by a
large margin. This legislation was vital to the survival of all Georgia non-profit police
and veterans organizations who depend on their bingo program to fund
their programs and services to law enforcement officers and veterans who may need
assistance. The Legislative Committee urges everyone to take into
consideration the lack of support for our veterans and police officers
by these politicians on election day. Senator John Douglas , Chairman of
the Senate Veterans, Military & Homeland Security Committee supported
veterans and police on this very important legislation. John is seeking
a seat on the Georgia Public Service Commission District 2. We urge all law enforcement and military personnel and veterans to support John
Douglas in his bid for the PSC. Peace Officers and veterans still
serving or those who have served should never lend their support to any
politician who won't support us. We want to express our sincere
gratitude to the Georgia House members of both parties who supported
their peace officers and veterans. As they supported us, we will support
them.
